Different types of thyroid surgery available are:
- Total thyroidectomy: This involves the complete removal of the thyroid gland and is recommended in cases of thyroid cancers or in the management of larger goiters.
- Partial thyroidectomy: This is also called Subtotal thyroidectomy and includes partial removal of the gland. Mostly recommended for tumors that are smaller in sizes.
- Thyroid lobectomy: This proicess is not used much and it includes removal of one-fourth of the gland
Some complication that may after the thyroidectomy operation (the percentage of these varies from 1 to 10% and timeline may vary from one year to longer; a physician may give you better idea):

2. Recurrent hyperthyroidism
3. Transient hypocalcemia
4. Laryngeal nerve palsy
5. Early post-operative bleeding
6. Feel of pain
7. Hoarse voice
